Flashback Oregon

I think of Oregon a lot. I loved visiting James and Grams & Gramps. I remember James' first house, the duplex. James had a knack for inviting me up to clean when it got too dirty, oh my, the hair in the bathroom! The house was on the wrong side of the tracks, literally, like 20 ft. All I can say is not fun when you're sleeping, CHOO, CHOO! I would sleep on the sofa bed and watch the ceiling fan go round and round over my head, which would have been fine under normal circumstances, but my brother had me watch Twin Peaks: Fire Walk With Me that night. For any of you who have not watched this prize winning film, there is a very scary scene that involves a ceiling fan spinning loudly and a monster, that's all I have to say about that.

The next place I remember was in Muffinville, o.k. it was Wilsonville but I thought that's what James' had said. I was the designated packer when I visited this apartment. That's right he invited me up to help him move:) I just remember I titled one box "Only God Knows What" and it was never re-opened.

After that I think it was the downtown apartment in Salem which I showed up to, you guessed it, clean. That guy couldn't clean if it killed him, but I didn't care I loved visiting, call me crazy.

One of my last visits to James was to his house in downtown Salem which looked a lot like the house in Alice in Wonderland and I'm pretty sure that was the reason he rented it. All I can say is scary. I don't even believe in ghosts but I was considering it after that house. It had this little walk-in attic space and I remember peaking in there real quick and running screaming and yelling, "Something is in there and I don't want to know what it is!!!"

Working at the comic book shop was so fun. I got to clean it up and throw trashy magazines away:) The customers were all a bit strange and creepy but it was always exciting. I would go out and walk around downtown and get lunch or go shopping or see a movie. Those were some good times!

We would always go to Grams & Gramps for the weekend and have yummy food, play cards and have our laundry done. I miss my time with all of them so much and I know I will always remember them.

You had ME scared when you would come home. Elizabeth was truly freaked at the last place. But it was worth it all on the drive back down to San Diego. I don't think I will ever know the truth about that entire trip home. Just hearing about the driving was enough to make me crazy! :-) Ah...the good ole days. I now know that God answers prayer!!!!!

Love, mom
