Potty Training Trevor

Liz is attempting to potty train Ryder so it made me reminisce about my adventure with Trev.

When Trevor was 3-1/2 I decided he should be using the big boy potty and it was time to lay down the law and show this kid who was boss.
The first attempt was to place the potty under the dining room table because it seemed to be his special place. It was a little hard explaining it's presence to dinner guests but I was going to win this battle of wills. Trevor would sneak under the table to do his duty in his diaper but now he had a little buffet table for snacks and a place to hide toys.
I was not deterred, the next step was to let him walk around with no diaper and hope he would use the toilet, not so. I quickly realized why we didn't own a house pet.
This woman would not be beat, I set Trev on the toilet and I said, "We are not getting up until you go on that toilet". A pile of books and 2-1/2 hours later, still nothing. I let him up and 5 minutes later he ran under the dining room table and went in his diaper. I relinquished by scepter and crowned him the Lord of the Wills.
When he was two weeks from turning four he decided to start using the toilet for no apparent reason except that I didn't ask anymore. The moral of the story, they'll use the toilet when they want to, not when you want them to.

Seems these boys do have a mind of there own when it comes to the potty training. At least it will be warm soon, I'll let him go outside w/o a diaper....
